The call
The $20 gap buys locations, vehicles and two activities the Standard edition never gets. Nothing else: no story content, no early access, no progression advantage.
Playing the story once and moving on? Standard is enough: the extras unlock late and change nothing about the plot. Staying in Vice City after the credits? Ultimate adds shops, garages and a car collection to chase.
There is a third route: buy Standard now, add the upgrade module later. Rockstar allows that switch at any point, disc copies included.
