GTA 6 Standard or Ultimate: what the extra $20 buys you
Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19, 2026 in two editions, $79.99 and $99.99, and no others. The 16 items behind that $20 gap include exactly two things to do, and the upgrade can be bought later for the same total.
GTA6 LIFE
Grand Theft Auto VI ships in two editions and only two: Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, from November 19, 2026. Twenty dollars separate them, or 25 percent. Rockstar Games has never announced a Collector, a Deluxe or a Special edition, no steelbook, and nothing physical inside the box: no cloth map, no booklet.
What the Standard edition holds takes one sentence, and Rockstar’s support page spends exactly one on it: “The Grand Theft Auto VI: Standard Edition includes the game.” It is also the only edition sold at retail, and that box carries no disc. The Rockstar Store spells it out: “Physical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12. A disc will not be included in the box.”
The 16 items inside the Ultimate Edition Upgrade
Ultimate is the game plus a module called the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, and Rockstar publishes its contents on the editions page. The list runs to sixteen entries. None of it lands in a heap on launch night: the studio writes that the contents are “threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter”.

Two of the sixteen are things to play. They sit at the bottom of that table. Everything above is a vehicle, a weapon, a piece of clothing or a shopfront, including five locations shut to Standard owners: Rideout Customs, Sara’s Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo and One-Eyed Willie’s. No digital soundtrack appears anywhere on Rockstar’s official list, contrary to what several sites have written.
Karl Kontus, an analyst at Sensor Tower, rates the bundle above the usual premium padding. “Sometimes the premium SKUs are just filler content to justify a higher price, but the GTA6 premium SKU comes with a meaningful amount of vehicles, weapons, and even a custom mod shop that you wouldn’t get otherwise,” he told GamesIndustry.biz on August 13, 2026. Buying Ultimate now or upgrading later both come to $99.99
Nobody has to decide before November 19. Rockstar support states that Standard owners, box buyers included, can buy the upgrade at any time once they have redeemed their download code, through the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store. The Microsoft Store lists that Ultimate Edition Upgrade at $20.00 in the United States. Add it to $79.99 and the total is $99.99, to the cent.
So the premium edition offers no bundle discount at all in the US, and no penalty for waiting either. One reservation: Rockstar has published no upgrade price outside that American listing. On August 17, 2026, en-jeu.fr found no euro figure on the French PlayStation Store page, and nothing commits Rockstar to the same $20.00 in another currency, or to a date for putting it up.
The Vintage Vice City Pack is free on both editions
Every pre-order and every purchase made before November 20, 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, on Standard and Ultimate alike. Take-Two calls it “a collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest”. The official contents run to three lines: a ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, Outfits and Hairstyles, an Exclusive Weapon Pattern.
Gamekult, working from the detail Rockstar supplied on June 24, 2026, puts flesh on those three lines: the 1955 sedan comes with the Shore Court garage a short walk from Ocean Beach, weapon locker and stolen-goods drop-off included; Jason gets a pastel linen suit, Lucia a red sequinned minidress; the weapon pattern reproduces Tommy Vercetti’s palm-print shirt and fits most guns. The code in the retail box carries the same rights. After November 20, 2026, Rockstar has announced no way to obtain the pack and no standalone price, so it is not a bonus that can be picked up later. Our Vintage Vice City Pack entry tracks it.
The gap is $20 in the US and something else everywhere else
Rockstar does not convert the dollar price mechanically, so the premium differs by market.

A British buyer therefore pays a steeper premium than an American one, on a base price that is lower. And that base price is the only one a retailer can cut, because Ultimate is not stocked anywhere: “A physical version of the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition is not available.” In the United Kingdom, The Independent listed Standard at Argos, Amazon, Very, GAME, EE, Studio, The Game Collection and ShopTo on June 26, 2026. Ultimate was on the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store, and nowhere else. Whatever discount a store offers, it applies to the cheaper edition and widens the real gap, which is why we log dated retail prices in our tracker of both editions, and why the pre-order guide lists sellers market by market.
So which one
Sensor Tower estimated on August 13, 2026 that 89 percent of 4.3 million pre-orders were for the Ultimate, 90 percent on Xbox and 88.5 percent on PlayStation, against a premium share that normally runs from 10 to 20 percent according to Kontus. Those are outside models. Take-Two has published no official pre-order figure, and Strauss Zelnick framed the split on August 7, 2026 as a deliberate two-tier offer: “I think that Rockstar feels that offering phenomenal value at $80 makes sense for some consumers. And then offering incremental value at a modestly increased price makes sense for other consumers.”
Ultimate is worth its $20 for players who intend to run the PTT Youngin$ raid and the Classic Car Collection and to use the five extra shops, accepting that they surface chapter by chapter rather than on November 19. Everyone else should take the Standard, because the upgrade waits at the same total and the Vintage pack is identical either way. Digital is the safer buy for anyone who might reach for that upgrade one day, since the retail code has to be redeemed first.
The retail box deserves one warning. Once the code is redeemed the copy is tied to the account, with no resale, no lending and no trade-in, and PlayStation codes are region-locked: Rockstar sorts buyers into blocks for North America, Latin America, the UK, Japan, Korea, Brazil and the rest of EMEA and Asia. Xbox codes are not locked. Japanese codes expire 170 days after they are issued, a limit Rockstar spells out on its support page. None of this applies to PC, since no PC version of GTA 6 has been announced to date, and so no PC price exists.
