GTA 6 Ocean Beach: Vice City's art deco hotels and white sands

Ocean Beach is one of four Vice City places Rockstar Games names in its official text of May 6, 2025. The studio gives it pastel art deco hotels and white sands, and the press keeps finding Ocean Drive in Miami Beach behind it.

Ocean Beach is a district of Vice City, the main city of GTA 6, named by Rockstar Games on May 6, 2025 on its Only in Leonida page. The official text gives it pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands. Rockstar also places the Shore Court garage, part of the Vintage Vice City Pack, a stone's throw from it. The press matches the hotels seen in the trailers to those on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach.

Ocean Beach is one of four Vice City places Rockstar Games names in an official sentence, alongside Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and VC Port. The sentence went up on May 6, 2025, the day of the second Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, on the Only in Leonida page under the heading “Everything in Excess”.

Each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba.

Rockstar uses the name a second time on its product page, in the description of the ’55 Vapid Stanier that Gamekult relayed on June 24, 2026: “Cruise Shore Drive in this classic sedan and store it in the Shore Court personal garage that’s just a stone’s throw from the glistening sands of Ocean Beach.” That garage comes with a weapon locker and a place to deposit stolen goods to be fenced. It belongs to the Vintage Vice City Pack, a pre-order bonus, not to the standard game.

The Ocean Drive hotels

Rockstar has never said which real neighborhood Ocean Beach is based on. The art deco hotels the press has picked out of the trailers sit on Ocean Drive, in Miami Beach.

The Boardwalk splits the press. IGN ties it to the Colony Hotel, Miami New Times to the Breakwater, and the two buildings are neighbors. The Ocean View Hotel is a callback to 2002: IGN notes it was Tommy Vercetti’s first safehouse in GTA Vice City, and Rockstar put its pink neon sign over an armed couple in one of the Vintage pack stills. The other matches are in our guide to the real Miami locations.

The beach, and the real one in Miami Beach

In the first trailer, released December 5, 2023, the beach umbrellas read “Vice Beach”, IGN points out. The real beaches are getting their own version: according to IGN on September 11, 2026, the deal approved by the city of Miami Beach allows “Vice City” or “VI” on beach chairs and umbrellas from October 15 to December 31, 2026, with the words “Grand Theft Auto” kept off.

Rockstar has published no map of Leonida, and nothing yet ties the “Vice Beach” umbrellas to Ocean Beach itself. Where the district sits, and what players can do there, will be clear from launch day, November 19, 2026.
