GTA 6 Leonida: the state Vice City sits in, explained

Rockstar Games has described six destinations in Leonida, published on May 6, 2025 alongside 70 4K screenshots. The studio has never released a map of the state, and has never given a single measurement of its size.

Leonida is the fictional state GTA 6 takes place in, and Rockstar Games has named six destinations inside it: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. All six went online on May 6, 2025 with 70 in-game screenshots in 4K, and nothing has been added since. No map and no measurement of the state has ever been released.

Leonida is the fictional state Grand Theft Auto VI takes place in, and Rockstar Games has named six destinations inside it: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. All six went online on May 6, 2025, the day the second trailer dropped, on a page called Only in Leonida, with 70 in-game screenshots in 4K. Nothing has been added since.

Here they are, in Rockstar’s own words.

Destination Official headline What Rockstar writes
Vice City Everything in Excess “The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city”, from the art deco hotels of Ocean Beach to the panaderías of Little Cuba and VC Port, “the cruise ship capital of the world”
Leonida Keys Gateway to Paradise “The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded”, a tropical archipelago sitting “right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America”
Grassrivers Welcome to the Wetlands “The untamable jewel of Leonida’s crown”, where the gators are the famous attraction but the mangroves hold “far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries”
Port Gellhorn Live Hard “Leonida’s forgotten coast”, its cheap motels and empty strip malls running on “malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks”
Ambrosia Keeping Leonida Sweet The Allied Crystal sugar refinery “provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else”
Mount Kalaga National Park Wild, Wild Country A national landmark “up against the state’s northern border”, with hunting, fishing and off-road trails, and backwoods where “hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals” live

The word county appears nowhere in Rockstar’s material. Five of them circulate anyway: Vice-Dale, Leonard, Ambrosia, Kelly and Mariana, every one read off road signs and sheriff badges in the trailers and screenshots, as GTA Intel laid out on June 6, 2026.

On size, Rockstar publicly says only that the map is “very big”, and no square mileage has ever been published. The ratios repeated everywhere since August 27, 2026, the map twice the size of GTA 5 and three times Red Dead Redemption 2, come from one sentence by Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, talking to the YouTuber TGG: the arithmetic does not add up.

The Extended Look of August 27, 2026 walked through all six destinations without once putting an overview map on screen. The pause menu map the press described is satellite-style imagery in place of the street plan of GTA 5.
