GTA 6: Jason Duval, ex-soldier working for Keys drug runners

Jason Duval is one of the two playable characters in Grand Theft Auto VI, alongside Lucia Caminos. Rockstar Games put his character page online on May 6, 2025, the day the second trailer landed: a former Army soldier living in the Leonida Keys and working for the local drug runners. The game arrives November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The whole page runs to five lines. The tagline:

Jason wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder.

Then the biography:

Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. After a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners. It might be time to try something new.

The page closes on Lucia: “Meeting Lucia could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him. Jason knows how he’d like it to turn out but right now, it’s hard to tell.” Take-Two’s press release of May 6, 2025 pitches the whole game on the pair: “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.” How their bond moves in play: GTA 6 Jason and Lucia, the relationship gauge. The two lines Rockstar puts in his mouth are shorter. “Another day in paradise, right?” and “If anything happens, I’m right behind you.”

Rockstar writes Jason Duval, one L. IGN used “Duvall” in its cover art breakdown of June 19, 2026, and NME used it on May 6, 2025.

His circle sits in the other character pages. Brian Heder, a drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys, lets Jason live rent-free at one of his properties, “so long as he helps with local shakedowns, and stops by for Lori’s sangria once in a while.” Cal Hampton, the conspiracy theorist snooping on Coast Guard comms from home, is “Jason’s friend and a fellow associate of Brian’s.”

Who plays Jason in GTA 6

Jason’s own voice stays unattributed. Rockstar Games has credited nobody, not on the character pages of May 6, 2025 and not across the 26 minutes and 48 seconds of An Extended Look. Two different names circulate for the part, one from an IMDb credit, a database readers edit themselves as Vice noted on August 28, 2026, and one from a screenshot of a casting-site resume since taken down. Neither man has said he plays Jason. Where each of the five rumoured names comes from: the GTA 6 cast, name by name.

Two better-known actors have ruled themselves out, as GamesRadar+ reported. Troy Baker denied voicing Jason in January 2025: “I want that guy, whoever it is, to get credit for his work.” Roger Craig Smith, the voice of Sonic and of Ezio Auditore, answered on X: “NOT my voice.”

Stephen Root told the Associated Press on September 13, 2026, ahead of the Emmy Awards, that he is in the game: “Yeah, you’re going to see me in that.” It is the first such claim carried by a news agency, and he named no character. GameRant, which transcribed the exchange on September 14, 2026, credits the Brian Heder identification to its own desk and to Rockstar’s character pages. IGN, which started that lead in May 2025, treats it as settled: “We know this character to be Brian Heder.”

For Jason Duval’s age, the biography only fixes an order: the Army comes after the “troubled teens,” the Keys after the Army. Rockstar gave him no age and no date of birth, as it gave none to the eight other people it named that day.
