GTA 6 voice actors: Stephen Root says he is in the game

Rockstar Games has credited no actor for any character in Grand Theft Auto VI. The eight character pages posted on rockstargames.com/VI on May 6, 2025 carry no credits, neither does the Take-Two release of the same day, and the 26 minutes and 48 seconds of “An Extended Look” that ran on August 27, 2026 ended without a cast roll. IGN asked for the list and was turned down on May 7, 2025: “Rockstar isn’t sharing its voice cast for GTA 6 just yet (we asked).”

Two actors have claimed a part in public, and the more recent one said it to a news agency. Asked by the Associated Press on September 13, 2026, at an event ahead of the Emmy Awards, Stephen Root said viewers will see him in the game: “Yeah, you’re going to see me in that.” He then explained why the guessing started so early: “I think from the first rollout of GTA that they were doing maybe almost a year ago, they had my character in there, and there are too many people who knew me from King of the Hill and my voice. I think that secret kind of got divulged then.”

Root named no character, and the coverage does not agree on what follows from that. GameRant, which transcribed the exchange on September 14, 2026, says the Brian Heder identification comes from its own desk and from Rockstar’s character pages, not from the actor. Xboxygen calls it a deduction built on a vocal resemblance. IGN, which started the Root lead in May 2025, treats it as settled: “We know this character to be Brian Heder.” Beebom put the role in its headline without quoting a line where Root says it. On the game itself he offered one sentence: “I am so happy to be involved with it.”

The other public claim is older. Jim Santangeli, Simon Pearson in Red Dead Redemption 2, answered a viewer on a TikTok livestream on June 10, 2026 who asked whether he did a little something in the game: “Yeah, Zane. Little small bit.” He named no character and no scene.

Lucia: three outlets, three verdicts, one day

Manni L. Perez deleted her Instagram account on July 12, 2025 under a pile of comments demanding she confirm the role. The Puerto Rican American actress had already voiced a character in the Diamond Casino & Resort update for GTA Online in 2019, which makes the lead plausible without making it true.

On August 28, 2026, EGW News, SVG and Vice drew three conclusions from the same Instagram post. EGW News ran a headline on an official confirmation from the actress, SVG filed it under speculation only, and Vice wrote that the account the post came from was fake and run by someone impersonating her. On September 1, 2026, Perez reopened her account and thanked followers for reporting “those fake imposter AI accounts”, LADbible reported two days later. The post says nothing about Lucia.

Five names, five pieces of evidence

Rockstar has endorsed none of these five role attributions, and no actor on the list has said he or she plays the character beside their name. The first two cancel each other out: two names for the same Jason Duval role, both pulled from databases their own users fill in.

Three denials that keep circulating as confirmations

Troy Baker denied voicing Jason in January 2025 and pushed the credit back to whoever earned it: “I want that guy, whoever it is, to get credit for his work.” Roger Craig Smith, the voice of Sonic and of Ezio Auditore, posted “NOT my voice” on X. Ned Luke, Michael De Santa in GTA V, denied the rumour that handed him Tommy Vercetti.

Roger Clark, Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, is tied to no GTA 6 role by any source. His name keeps coming back because Troy Baker cited him as an example of a Rockstar actor inside his own denial, and the example got read as a lead.

The credits arrive on November 19, 2026, with the game. That has been Rockstar’s habit since GTA V, where the names of Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno broke at launch rather than during the marketing run. Until then a post from an account nobody has verified is not a cast list, and spotting a fake leak works on casting as well as on anything else.
