GTA 6 storage: PS5 SSDs from $209.99, Xbox card at $239.99

Grand Theft Auto VI lands on November 19, 2026, and Rockstar Games has published no install size, with the serious estimates falling between 150 and 200 GB. All six drives on this page were sold or shipped by Amazon.com on September 13, 2026, and the number that separates them is the price per terabyte, the only figure that compares a 1TB drive with a 2TB one. The Lexar NM790 2TB holds it at about $170, the SanDisk Optimus GX C50 1TB Xbox card at $239.99, and the PlayStation licensed SanDisk 850P 2TB climbs to $305.

On the PS5, Sony asks for an NVMe PCIe Gen4 x4 drive reading at least 5,500 MB/s, with a heatsink no thicker than 11.25 mm, per its support page. All five PS5 drives here clear that floor, from 7,000 MB/s on the Corsair to 7,400 MB/s on the two Lexar. The NM790 ships without DRAM, and the PS5 does not support HMB (Host Memory Buffer, the slice of system memory that stands in for it on a PC), so it lands a little under its rated speed in practice; the gap never shows up in play against a 5,500 MB/s floor. At $339.99 for 2TB, it costs $130 more than its 1TB version and doubles the room: our PS5 pick.

The SanDisk Optimus GX PRO 850X 1TB, $289.99, is sold and shipped by Amazon.com under the same product code as in France; it reads at 7,300 MB/s with the heatsink fitted, without the PlayStation licence of its 850P sibling. The Corsair MP600 Elite 1TB, which Corsair bills as “optimized for PS5”, slides under the console cover with its low-profile heatsink for $234.97, but only 15 units were left on September 13, 2026. The 850P 2TB, $609.99, is the one drive above a terabyte that Amazon.com and Amazon.fr both sell themselves, and its terabyte costs close to double the Lexar’s: the licence and the capacity are what you pay for.

Two drives leave the page, because the English and French versions share one selection and a promised price has to hold on both stores. The Samsung 990 PRO 1TB, listed here on the morning of September 13, 2026 at $339.99, saw its Amazon.com offer pass to a reseller at $280 later that day; the SanDisk 850P 1TB, in stock at $309.99 on Amazon.com, was quoted at 3 to 6 months for dispatch on Amazon.fr the same evening.

On the Xbox there is no M.2 drive to choose: the Series X and Series S take only Xbox format cards, made by Seagate, WD_Black and SanDisk as of August 26, 2026 according to Netzwelt. Every card loads at internal-SSD speed, around 2.4 GB/s, so the only variable is the price per terabyte. The SanDisk Optimus GX C50 1TB is the one card on the page, $239.99 on September 13, 2026, sold and shipped by Amazon.com and in stock, while the French store quoted 2 to 5 months for the same card. These prices are not about to fall. Microsoft wrote on June 25, 2026 that “console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x” and expected another doubling by the fall of 2027.
