GTA 6 console prices: Xbox from $498, PS5 from $599.99

The seven consoles that can run Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026 span from $498 for an Xbox Series S 512 GB to $899.99 for a PS5 Pro 2 TB, prices read on September 13, 2026. The four Xbox figures are Amazon.com’s own: it sold and shipped every Xbox model itself that day, each priced a dollar under Microsoft’s list. The three PS5 figures are Sony’s list prices, as tracked by GamesRadar the same day, because Amazon.com had no offer of its own on the Digital Edition or the Pro, and shows the price of the disc model only once it sits in the cart.

On PS5, GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate, the same as on Xbox Series X|S, prices Rockstar Games set when pre-orders opened on June 24, 2026. That sits on top of the machine: the cheapest pairing comes to $577.99, an Xbox Series S 512 GB and the Standard edition; $679.98 with a PS5 Digital Edition; $979.98 with a PS5 Pro. The disc drive earns nothing for GTA 6. The $50 between a PS5 Digital Edition and a PS5 with a drive, like the $50 between the two Series X, pays for a tray the game never reads: the box holds a download code, not a disc, and Rockstar says so on its product page. What separates these models is capacity and power, not whether they read a disc.

None of the seven is a launch price. VGC placed the Series X with a drive $300 above its November 2020 launch price on June 25, 2026; TweakTown put the PS5 gap at $200 on July 31. The Series S 512 GB rose $100 to a $499.99 list on August 1, the Series X with a drive $150 to $799.99, and Amazon.com’s dollar-under readings sit on those figures.

Microsoft gave its reason on June 25. Console “storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x”, the statement reads, with “another doubling by the fall of 2027” expected on machines “typically not sold at a profit”. It names Grand Theft Auto VI, calling the Series S “the lowest-cost way for console players to enjoy the biggest hits this year”.

The buttons on this page changed on September 14, 2026. Each opens the exact Amazon.com listing for its model, in stock or not. On September 13, the Series S 1 TB listing showed only six units left, the Series X with a drive quoted delivery between October 1 and October 16, and the PS5 with a drive was sold by Amazon.com with its price held back until checkout. The PS5 Digital Edition listing carried no Amazon.com offer at all, and the PS5 Pro none on either side of the Atlantic. The Pro is back on the page all the same: its listing is the right one for the 2 TB model, and stock returns before November 19.

Expansion storage is the cost behind all of this: the memory shortage Microsoft names is the same one lifting SSD prices.
