GTA 6 on PS Portal: Remote Play is listed on the PS5 store page
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its PlayStation Store listing reads 'Remote Play supported,' so the copy installed on a PS5 can be played on a PlayStation Portal, a phone or a PC.
: Added what Xbox and The Verge say about streaming GTA 6 through Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the monthly Game Pass streaming caps from November.

Yes, GTA 6 will play on PlayStation Portal: its PlayStation Store listing reads 'Remote Play supported.' The game runs on a PS5 where it is installed, powered on or in Rest Mode, and the $249.99 Portal streams it over Wi-Fi, with at least 5Mbps required and 15Mbps recommended by Sony. No PlayStation Plus membership is needed. The game launches November 19, 2026.
Grand Theft Auto VI will play on PlayStation Portal: the US PlayStation Store listing reads “Remote Play supported” for the game, which launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Portal does not run GTA 6 itself. It streams the picture from a PS5 with the game installed.
| Device | What else you need | Connection |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Portal, $249.99 | a PS5 powered on or in Rest Mode, paired with the Portal | 5Mbps required, 15Mbps recommended |
| Phone, tablet, PC, Mac | a PS5 and the free PS Remote Play app | 5Mbps required, 15Mbps recommended |
| Windows PC, Android, iOS, Meta Quest | an Xbox Series X or Series S with remote features enabled | 10Mbps down, over 5GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data |
Requirements as listed on Sony and Microsoft pages on October 3, 2026. The Portal price is Sony’s list price since April 2, 2026.
Do you need a PS5 to play GTA 6 on PS Portal?
Yes. Sony’s Portal page says the device “can stream compatible games installed on your PS5 console,” and that the console “must be connected to a broadband internet connection, powered on fully or in Rest Mode.” GTA 6 goes on the PS5, from the November 12 preload onward, and the PS5 does the rendering.
The Portal shows it on an 8-inch LCD that Sony bills as “60fps capable at 1080p resolution.” How GTA 6 looks on that screen is something to check on November 19, 2026.
Do you need PS Plus?
No. Sony’s FAQ answers that “using PlayStation Portal Remote Player and PlayStation Remote Play does not require a PlayStation Plus membership.” The subscription covers online multiplayer, and GTA 6 is sold as “1 player”; our PS Plus and offline play guide has the details.
PlayStation Plus Premium adds Cloud Streaming, which lets the Portal play with the PS5 switched off. Sony limits it to the PS Plus catalog and to “select digital PS5 games,” with eligibility shown on the PlayStation Store. As of October 3, 2026, neither the GTA 6 listing nor the Portal page names the game among them.
Can you play away from home?
Yes, on any Wi-Fi of at least 5Mbps according to Sony, including public networks with an extra sign-in step on Portal system software 3.0.1 or later, once the first setup is done on home Wi-Fi. The PS5 stays plugged in at home. On a phone, the PS Remote Play app also runs over mobile data, which counts against your plan.
Sony also points out that someone else in the household can watch a show on the PS5’s TV while you play on the Portal.
Does the DualSense keep its haptics?
On the Portal, yes in games that support them, and the GTA 6 listing reads “Vibration function and trigger effect supported (DualSense wireless controller).” On Android, PC, Mac, iPhone or iPad, Sony warns that some DualSense features “may not be available.”
What about Xbox Series X|S?
Microsoft offers remote play for “games installed on your console” from an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, to a Windows 10 or 11 PC, Android 6.0+ or iOS 15.1+ devices, smart TVs and Meta Quest headsets. Sessions start at xbox.com/remoteplay. The GTA 6 Microsoft Store listing declares five capabilities, including “Single player” and “Xbox cloud saves,” and none of them covers remote play, so Microsoft’s general rule applies. If you are still picking a console, our PS5 or Xbox comparison lays out the known differences.
Cloud streaming is a separate question. On October 6, 2026, The Verge reported an Xbox Cloud Gaming deal for GTA 6, and Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball replied on X that the game “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.” In its correction, The Verge still reports that Xbox Cloud Gaming can stream GTA 6 at launch, which it reads as streaming to Xbox consoles only. Heise Online adds that the game “must be purchased separately” and that, from November, Game Pass caps streaming at 15 hours a month on Ultimate, 10 on Premium and 5 on Essential.
