GTA 6 trailer 1 still isn't YouTube's most viewed trailer
The counters on all three official GTA 6 videos were read on Rockstar Games' YouTube channel on August 28, 2026. Trailer 1 is past 291 million views, and it is still not the most watched trailer on the platform.
GTA6 LIFE

The first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer reads 291,981,122 views and 12,462,408 likes on Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel, counted on August 28, 2026 at around 20:30 UTC. Trailer 2, up since May 6, 2025, sits at 180,266,274 views and 6,601,821 likes, a little over 60 percent of what its predecessor has. “An Extended Look”, posted the evening before, showed 8,748,111 views about twenty hours in.
| Video | Posted | Runtime | Views on August 28, 2026 | Likes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trailer 1 | December 4, 2023 | 90 s | 291,981,122 | 12,462,408 |
| Trailer 2 | May 6, 2025 | 2 min 47 | 180,266,274 | 6,601,821 |
| An Extended Look | August 27, 2026 | 26 min 48 | 8,748,111 | 1,092,376 |

The record most often attached to the first of those numbers does not hold. On November 11, 2025, NME reported that trailer 1 had become the most viewed trailer in YouTube history, past 268 million views against 267 million for “Avengers: Infinity War”. Five days later the specialist account Rockstar Mag’ went back on X over a claim it had passed on itself, calling it false.
Numerama published its own correction on November 17, 2025, with the figures behind it. The Subway Surfers trailer, online since 2012, was at roughly 361 million views, against roughly 269 million for GTA 6. The French site also gave the mechanism behind that gap: the Subway Surfers total is inflated by the video sitting inside Google Play, where every playback through the YouTube player, recommendations and ads included, counts as a view. Trailer 1 is nowhere near it.
Half of the comparison survives. On the Marvel Entertainment channel, the “Avengers: Infinity War” trailer reads 272,455,559 views on August 28, 2026, so trailer 1 is ahead of it by close to 20 million, more than nine months after the NME piece. A film trailer beaten is not a platform record won.
Over 24 hours there was a real record, and it has already gone. Rockstar told The Hollywood Reporter on May 7, 2025 that trailer 2 had passed 475 million views across all platforms in a single day, ahead of the 365 million of “Deadpool & Wolverine”. On March 19, 2026, the first trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” cleared 500 million views in twelve hours and reached 718.6 million in twenty-four.
Rockstar has never broken those 475 million down by platform, and only the YouTube share is documented, at more than 80 million in a day according to Numerama on May 8, 2025. No 24-hour figure has been given for the Extended Look, not on August 27 and not since.
