GTA 6 Extended Look censored in Rockstar's China upload
The version of the GTA 6 Extended Look sitting on Bilibili is not the one Netflix subscribers watched on August 27, 2026. IGN detailed the blurred scenes on September 4.

Rockstar Games has published a heavily blurred version of the GTA 6 Extended Look on the Chinese platform Bilibili, the presentation of 26 minutes and 48 seconds shown on August 27, 2026. IGN reported it on September 4, 2026: dancing, drug content, sexual content and close-ups of bloodied corpses are all obscured. Rockstar has given no explanation for the edit.
Rockstar Games has published a heavily blurred cut of “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” on the Chinese video platform Bilibili, the same presentation, 26 minutes and 48 seconds long, that premiered on August 27, 2026. IGN reported the upload on September 4, 2026, working from a find by the account @videotech on X that Kotaku picked up.
The Bilibili cut obscures dancing, drug content and sexual content. The nightclub sequence with Jason and Lucia collapses into a wall of purple blur. Later, Jason’s hand vanishes behind a smear while he smokes, and part of the crowd on the beach gets the same treatment. Close-ups of bloodied corpses are blanked out entirely, while most other bodies stay visible.
The video has not always looked like this, if a GTAForums user going by BDF is to be believed. They claim the upload posted right after the Netflix premiere carried none of that blurring, and that the file was swapped out around August 31, 2026. The claim comes from a forum, IGN passes it on unverified, and Rockstar Games has published nothing about it.
The rest of the rollout is unchanged
Netflix streamed the Extended Look worldwide on August 27, 2026 with subtitles in thirteen languages, simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese among them. The Rockstar Store lists those same two under its Available Languages block, checked on August 28, 2026. So the blurring is not a localisation decision: IGN writes that the Bilibili cut differs from the other uploads, and the game still ships in Chinese on November 19, 2026.
The YouTube version is age-restricted and needs a signed-in account, as PCMag noted on August 27, 2026. And GTA 6 still has no age rating anywhere: a search of the public ESRB database on August 28, 2026 returned no entry for the game, and storefronts showed provisional ratings only.
No level 1 or level 2 source says who asked for the blurring, or whether it stays in place through November 19, 2026. With 75 days to go, the 26-minute presentation is still the only long stretch of GTA 6 gameplay Rockstar has released since the May 2025 trailer, and Netflix got it six hours before YouTube.
