GTA 6 Vice City sign on Kaseya Center earns Miami-Dade $975,000

Vice City now has a sign in the real Miami, on the roof of the Miami Heat's arena. The Miami Herald puts the county's deal with Rockstar Games at $975,000, for at least a year on display.

Miami-Dade County collects $975,000 from Rockstar Games for the 'Welcome to Vice City' sign lifted onto the Kaseya Center roof on September 22, 2026, the Miami Herald reports. The deal, signed September 10, 2026, set an October 15 install deadline. Per documents reviewed by IGN, the sign stays until the later of two dates: one year after installation, or the Miami Heat's last home game on April 11, 2027.

Miami-Dade County will collect $975,000 from Rockstar Games for the “Welcome to Vice City” sign lifted onto the roof of the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the Miami Herald reports. Daniella Levine Cava, mayor of the county that owns the arena, signed the agreement on September 10, 2026, and her office only released it to the paper on September 22.

A helicopter flew the pink and white letters up one by one that afternoon, Local 10 reported. They sit on the bay side of the roof and read best from the air: CBS News Miami notes that travelers flying into Miami International Airport get a bird’s-eye view.

What the deal says

IGN reviewed the deal documents, an excerpt is circulating on r/GTA6, and fan site GTAVice.net dug up the sign’s planning file on September 15.

Term What it says Reported by
Fee $975,000 to the county Miami Herald
Signed September 10, 2026, by the county mayor Miami Herald
Install deadline October 15, 2026, or Rockstar could terminate IGN
Term the later of one year after installation or the Heat’s last home game, April 11, 2027 IGN
Payments $243,750 on signing, $243,750 once materials reach the roof, $487,500 once the sign is up and running excerpt posted on r/GTA6
Size about 4,690 square feet, 4,017 of them for “Vice City” GTAVice.net

The excerpt’s three payments add up to exactly $975,000, the Herald’s figure: a quarter on signing, a quarter on delivery, and half once the sign is “Substantially Functional.”

Some outlets have reported April 11, 2027 as the day the sign comes down. It isn’t. The clause IGN quotes runs to “the latter of” the two dates. If the year counts from the September 22, 2026 installation, which the excerpts don’t specify, it lands in September 2027, five months after the Heat’s final home game. April 11 is a floor. The letter of intent in the planning file, per GTAVice.net, caps the artwork’s run on the roof at two years.

One signed contract so far

“It was a joint agreement between the Heat, Kaseya, the county and, essentially, Rockstar,” Christopher Hudtwalcker, the mayor’s chief of staff, told county commissioners at the budget hearing that ran into the early hours of September 18, 2026, as reported by WLRN and USA Today. He added that “the only agreement that’s been signed is with the Heat arena.”

A “Vice City Airport,” wrapped Metromover trains and branded manhole covers are still ideas on paper. Miami Today reported on September 22 that more contracts are being drafted for county property, on top of the separate Miami Beach and City of Miami deals, whose displays start October 15, 2026, the same day as the Kaseya Center install deadline.

The Heat open their home regular season on October 21, 2026, IGN notes, 29 days before the November 19, 2026 release.
