GTA 6 easter eggs: what has actually been found so far

Nobody has found a secret inside Vice City yet, for the simple reason that the game ships on November 19, 2026. What exists is a list of nods to older GTA games, all of them spotted in Rockstar's own material.

GTA6 LIFE

Rockstar Games has named no easter egg in GTA 6 as of September 7, 2026, 73 days before the November 19 launch. Every nod on record comes from official material: the Ocean View Hotel, Tommy Vercetti's first safehouse, in the December 5, 2023 trailer, a gecko wearing Vercetti's shirt in the May 6, 2025 one, and a Red Dead Redemption 2 backdrop in an Extended Look commercial.

Rockstar Games has never named a single easter egg in Grand Theft Auto VI. That holds as of September 7, 2026, 73 days before the November 19, 2026 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: the Only in Leonida page, reread that day, says nothing about a secret, a hidden place or a puzzle, and neither does any press release. Everything filed under that word today is a nod spotted by the press in material Rockstar published itself.

The first batch comes out of the December 5, 2023 trailer, which IGN took apart in 99 details. The Ocean View Hotel shows up in it, and that was Tommy Vercetti’s first safehouse in GTA: Vice City. On the door of the Uncle Jack’s Liquor store robbed at the end, a “Petty Forever” sticker points back at Tom Petty, whose “Love Is a Long Road” carries the whole trailer. IGN filed it as detail number 95.

Where Vice City shows through

A gun store in the May 6, 2025 trailer is called “Phil’s Ammu-Nation”, which PC Gamer ties to Phil Cassidy from GTA 3 and Vice City. The best hidden nod in that video took more than a year to surface: on June 21, 2026, the X account GameVerse spotted a gecko drawing on the store wall at the 33 second mark, wearing the blue floral shirt Vercetti wears. That find came from a player, relayed by Numerama, not from Rockstar.

The cover art published on June 19, 2026 plays the same game panel by panel. IGN picked out a Sea Sparrow, the amphibious helicopter introduced in Vice City; a motorcycle placed exactly where the 2002 Vice City cover put one; and a yellow supercar in the slot a yellow Infernus held back then.

The Extended Look of August 27, 2026 delivered the one in-house nod. The parody commercial for the “Prairie Sandwich Box Meal”, at 7 minutes 34, was shot on a Red Dead Redemption 2 backdrop, north of Annesburg. User s1nicki matched it on the bend of the river, two large rocks and a leaning tree, as our August 28 report sets out.

Twenty-two years of Bigfoot

Rockstar’s oldest secret has been loitering in its open worlds since GTA: San Andreas shipped on October 26, 2004. GamesRadar+ summed it up on November 1, 2018: “The giant hairy humanoid has appeared in one form or another in Red Dead Redemption, GTA 4, GTA 5 and now, it turns out, Red Dead Redemption 2.” Reaching him in that last one means studying at least 30 animals, then following a flock of birds to a blocked cave near Calumet Ravine, where a voice calls out without ever showing itself.

The other tradition pays worse. GTA V shipped on September 17, 2013 carrying a map-like mural at the top of Mount Chiliad, a set of glyphs and recurring UFO sightings that nobody has ever explained. The subreddit devoted to the mystery had 44,000 members in November 2024, eleven years in.

Ben Hinchliffe, a former Rockstar Games designer, gave the least romantic answer available that same year, talking to Dan Dawkins:

“As with all Easter eggs, sometimes you just put them in to mess with people. They don’t actually do anything. You just mess with people, just to drive them a little bit crazy.”

Hinchliffe adds that he did not work on the mural himself. On August 14, 2025, GamesRadar+ carried the opposite reading, from creator Gator Keys: the three symbols on the mural, a UFO, an egg and a jetpack, all push the player toward 100% completion, the only state in which the UFO above the mountain becomes visible. A studio veteran on one side, a player on the other, almost twelve years after release: the gap is still open.

What is missing before November 19

No easter egg from the finished game is known, not its location, not its count, not its nature. Here is the complete inventory of what official material has handed over so far.

Official material Nod spotted Date
Trailer 1 Ocean View Hotel, “Petty Forever” sticker December 5, 2023
Trailer 2 Phil’s Ammu-Nation, gecko in Vercetti’s shirt May 6, 2025
Cover art Sea Sparrow, motorcycle and supercar in their 2002 slots June 19, 2026
Extended Look Red Dead Redemption 2 backdrop in a commercial August 27, 2026

Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, gave IGN the one method note on August 27, 2026: “There’s a whole lot of stuff that you discover emergently that we’re not necessarily directing you to through objectives or blips or icons on a map as well.” With no icons, and with no map of Leonida published at all, nobody can place anything before launch. The same rule covers the cars said to be hidden.

The hunt started anyway. On September 4, 2026, jeuxvideo.com listed the leads players are already chasing: Dexter, Miami Vice, Dark Souls, plus a loud demand for a tribute to Ray Liotta, the voice of Tommy Vercetti in Vice City in 2002. Rockstar Games has picked up none of them.
