GTA 6 music: who is Ivan Pavlovich, Rockstar's music director
Ivan Pavlovich has overseen Rockstar Games' music since GTA V in 2013. A former Chicago label boss, he built the Los Santos radio dial and brought real club DJs into GTA Online.

Ivan Pavlovich is Rockstar Games' Director of Music and Audio, the title Rolling Stone gave him in December 2018. He joined Rockstar in 2004, per Complex, after running the Chicago label Guidance Recordings. He oversaw the GTA V soundtrack (15 music stations, 240 licensed songs), Red Dead Redemption 2's music and the GTA Online club updates. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 with 34 original tracks announced for its album.

Before Rockstar he worked in Chicago’s techno and house scene, alongside Green Velvet at Cajual Records, and founded Guidance Recordings in 1996. The label eventually folded. Fact adds that he had worked with Rockstar on two soundtracks before the company hired him.
GTA V, the biggest soundtrack Rockstar had made
Three weeks before GTA V shipped, Pavlovich laid out the numbers to Rolling Stone on August 28, 2013: “15 radio stations, two talk radio stations, 240 licensed songs, and somewhere in the proximity of 20 movies worth of score.” The stations were built as the soundscape you hear “as you fly into L.A.”, and that setting drove one first for the series: “One of the things we’ve never done in a GTA game before is a pop station.” The score, by Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson, The Alchemist and Oh No, was the first in a GTA to react to what the player does.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online
For Red Dead Redemption 2, Rolling Stone reported on December 18, 2018 that D’Angelo, a fan of the series, would turn up at Rockstar’s New York office at midnight and play until four in the morning. “I have never seen someone that excited,” Pavlovich said. He then asked the singer for a song, which became “May I? Stand Unshaken”.
In GTA Online he brought in the club scene. For After Hours in 2018, his team picked The Black Madonna, Dixon, Solomun and Tale Of Us and put them through motion capture. The Cayo Perico Heist added 250 tracks across three new stations on December 15, 2020, and Pavlovich told Complex: “We have this platform to introduce people to new music.” Rockstar went on to co-found the label CircoLoco Records on May 24, 2021.
What Rockstar has released of the GTA 6 music
On September 17, 2026, Rockstar announced an album of 34 original tracks with Atlantic Records, and promised more on “the dynamic score, the next evolution of in-game radio”. On October 8, 2026, the official music page revealed six stations, from Flash FM to The Chamber 106.6, billed as “the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio and podcasts yet”. The radio guide keeps the full list.
As of October 16, 2026, neither those announcements nor the press coverage spell out his role on GTA 6, and the latest title on record dates from December 2020: Rockstar does not publish credits before launch.
