GTA 6 endings: 2 in GTA 4, 3 in GTA 5, and Rob Nelson's hint

With 73 days to go before November 19, 2026, nobody outside Rockstar North knows how Jason and Lucia's story closes. Rockstar settled GTA 5's canon ending in December 2025, twelve years after release.

Rockstar Games has announced no ending for GTA 6, single or multiple, as of September 7, 2026, 73 days before the November 19 release. The closest published line is Rob Nelson telling IGN on August 27, 2026 that the state of Jason and Lucia's relationship will have a bearing on how their story plays out. For reference: GTA 4 had two endings, GTA 5 three, Red Dead Redemption 2 one with variants.

Rockstar Games has announced no ending for Grand Theft Auto VI, single or multiple, 73 days before November 19, 2026. The word appears nowhere: not in the 26 minutes and 48 seconds of the Extended Look broadcast on August 27, 2026, not on the product page opened on June 24, 2026, not in the interviews given to the press invited to Rockstar North.

So this page spoils nothing about GTA 6, for lack of material. It does spoil the endings of GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, three games released between 2008 and 2018.

The closest published line comes from Rob Nelson, head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North, speaking to IGN on August 27, 2026. Whether the player has nurtured the relationship between Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, he says, “will definitely have a bearing on how their story plays out.” The word “ending” is not in it. On the criminal profile, IGN stays conditional: it “might affect how the main story may play out.”

Everything else sits next to the question rather than inside it. Two scales of decision, minor choices that accumulate and major choices with immediate consequences; a narrative written to support multiple playthroughs; a story split into chapters, which Rockstar Games wrote on its own Ultimate Edition page on June 24, 2026. A story with choices is not a story with multiple endings, and that is the slip most pages on the subject are making.

Two endings, three endings, or one that changes its tone

The series has no house rule: Rockstar North’s last three games settled the question three different ways.

Game Endings What decides
GTA 4 (2008) 2 Niko Bellic’s choice: Deal, and Roman dies at the wedding; Revenge, and Kate McReary does
GTA 5 (2013) 3 Franklin Clinton’s choice: “Something Sensible,” “The Time’s Come,” or “The Third Way”
Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) 1, with variants Arthur Morgan’s honor level, though he dies either way

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the closest precedent to what is documented on GTA 6, because Nelson presents the criminal profile as the successor to its honor system. In the 2018 game, honor does not change the outcome, it changes the scene: two distinct deaths, a deer or a black coyote in chapter 6, a tended grave or a neglected one, and a different memory in Charles Smith’s mouth.

Rockstar settled GTA 5’s ending twelve years after release

On December 10, 2025, Rockstar Games shipped the GTA Online update “A Safehouse in the Hills,” announced five days earlier. Michael de Santa turns up in it, greying, running the Prix Luxury Real Estate storyline. Screen Rant read that on December 9, 2025 as the answer to a question open since September 2013: the Deathwish ending, “The Third Way,” in which all three protagonists walk away from the 200 million dollar Union Depository job of “The Big Score,” is GTA 5’s canon ending. The studio never wrote it in a press release. It played it.

Twelve years, then, between GTA 5 shipping and its ending being settled. Nothing obliges Rockstar Games to say more on November 19, 2026 about the main story missions or the last chapter among them.

GTA 6’s endings are already online, and they are invented

One page read on September 7, 2026 lays out three named endings, “Betrayal,” “Sacrifice” and “True Ending (Survival),” triggered by a trust score between the two characters: under 40 percent, 40 to 70 percent, above 70 percent. It even describes the post-credits scene. It dates itself June 21, 2026, claims an update on August 20, and cites not one source. No numeric trust score exists in any official or press source: what Rockstar describes is a relationship system with no published meter, kept separate from the criminal profile. That page is the kind a hurried reader takes for a guide, and one more reason to dodge spoilers between now and November 19.

Still missing on September 7, 2026: the number of chapters, the number of main missions, any point of no return, and the length of the script, when Dan Houser gave 2,000 pages for Red Dead Redemption 2 before it shipped. One narrative lock is documented, and it has nothing to do with the ending. IGN asked Rockstar whether a player could split the couple up and published the answer on August 27, 2026: “There’s no dumping your significant other.”
