GTA 6 New Game Plus: what RDR2 and GTA 5 offer after the credits

With 69 days to go before November 19, 2026, the official GTA 6 page names no game modes at all, New Game Plus included. Red Dead Redemption 2 has gone seven years and ten months without one.

Rockstar Games has announced no New Game Plus mode for GTA 6. Checked on September 11, 2026, 69 days before the November 19 release, the official product page names no game mode at all. Red Dead Redemption 2, released on October 26, 2018, never received one. What GTA 5 offers instead is mission replay and a city that stays open after the credits.

Rockstar Games has announced no New Game Plus mode for Grand Theft Auto VI. The official product page, opened on September 11, 2026, 69 days before the November 19 release, names no game mode at all: it introduces Jason and Lucia, the pre-order bonuses and the Ultimate Edition. The strings “New Game Plus”, “NG+” and “replay” appear nowhere on it.

The term means a second run at the story from the beginning that keeps part of what the first run earned: money, weapons, unlocks, sometimes skills. It is neither a fresh start, which resets everything, nor a single replayed mission. Rockstar Games has said nothing either about what a player can do once the credits roll in GTA 6.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is still waiting for one

Screen Rant covered a Nexus Mods release on April 17, 2026 that stands in for a New Game Plus in Red Dead Redemption 2, because the official mode does not exist. Players have asked for years: “calls they have entirely ignored”. Three years earlier, writing about a different mod, GameRant already put it as “Rockstar Games never got around to releasing” the feature. The game came out on October 26, 2018. Seven years and ten months.

What Rockstar says about second playthroughs

IGN published 64 gameplay details on August 27, 2026, and point 64 covers replay value: the GTA 6 story carries two scales of choice, minor decisions that stack up into wider consequences and major choices with immediate effect, and the narrative was built to support multiple playthroughs. A second run is there to show different consequences, not to start again better equipped.

ComicBook noted a related point on August 28, 2026, one that bears on restarting: some missions branch when the player is caught or misses an objective, instead of sending them back to the start.

What Rockstar leaves behind after the credits

In GTA 5, the city outlives the story. “Completing the game is not the end of your experience in Los Santos, as the city still has a lot to offer,” Screen Rant wrote in a guide updated on April 12, 2024. Story missions can be replayed at will for their Gold Medals, and the same guide counts 16 businesses and 7 garages to buy. What stays playable depends on the ending picked: two of GTA 5’s three endings kill a protagonist, “Something Sensible” takes Trevor Philips and “The Time’s Come” takes Michael De Santa. Whether GTA 6 has several endings has never been stated.

Red Dead Redemption 2 goes further, with a playable epilogue. GameRant laid it out on February 9, 2025: after Arthur Morgan dies, the player takes over as John Marston and reaches ground the game had kept shut, since “John Marston can now venture West into New Austin without the risk of Pinkertons or invisible snipers taking shots at him”. Arthur’s grave in Ambarino becomes a place to visit.

Game New Game Plus After the last mission
GTA 5, September 2013 none mission replay, open city, 16 businesses and 7 garages
Red Dead Redemption 2, October 2018 none playable epilogue, New Austin opened up
GTA 6, November 19, 2026 nothing announced nothing published

Both columns are empty for GTA 6. Rockstar Games has described no epilogue, no world left open, no mission replay, and no completion criteria have been published. The question carries more weight than it did for the earlier games: the June 24, 2026 pre-order announcement sells “a single-player experience”, and no online mode is announced for November 19. GameSpot drew the exact line on August 27, 2026, saying Rockstar has not written that there will not be one either.

One measured figure sits against all of that: Rob Nelson finished a full playthrough in February 2026 in about 80 hours, main story and optional objectives included. No length has been given for whatever comes after.
