Where nobody has answered, the page says so.
Release date and calendar
When does GTA 6 come out?
Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games published the date on the Newswire on November 6, 2025. (Level 1, Rockstar Newswire, November 6, 2025)
Does the date still hold after the August leaks?
Yes. On August 26, 2026 Rockstar wrote: “we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19,” and described the game as “nearly there!”. No delay is mentioned anywhere in the statement. (Level 1, Rockstar Games on X, August 26, 2026)
How many times has the game been delayed?
Twice. Announced as “Coming 2025” in December 2023, moved to May 26, 2026 on May 2, 2025, then to November 19, 2026 on November 6, 2025, a further 177 days. (Level 1, Rockstar Newswire, May 2, 2025 and November 6, 2025)
What time does it unlock?
Nobody knows. Rockstar has never published an unlock time, and the three timetables circulating since 2025 cite no Newswire post. Our release date and unlock time guide explains what can be inferred instead. (Level 1 by absence, official product page, August 28, 2026)
When does preload start?
November 12, 2026, seven days before launch, for digital and boxed copies alike. (Level 1, Take-Two, June 24, 2026)
Is a third trailer coming?
Rockstar has announced no date for a third trailer, and none for review embargoes either. The last scheduled event was the Extended Look of August 27, 2026. (Level 1 by absence, official product page, August 28, 2026)
Platforms
Which machines is it coming to?
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and no others. Rockstar’s support page answers the platform question with “You can pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.” (Level 1, Rockstar Games Support, June 24, 2026)
Is there a PS4 or Xbox One version?
No. Sony writes that the game “will only be playable on PlayStation 5 consoles. It will not be available for PlayStation 4 consoles.” The generational break was settled at the December 2023 announcement. (Level 1, PlayStation.com, August 28, 2026)
Will there be a PC version?
None has been announced: no date, no window, no Steam page. For scale, Rockstar’s three previous gaps between console and PC were 7 months and 3 days for GTA IV, 18 months and 28 days for GTA V, and 12 months and 10 days for Red Dead Redemption 2. More in still no PC version. (Level 1 by absence, official product page, August 28, 2026)
What about Nintendo Switch 2?
Nothing. No Rockstar or Take-Two document mentions the machine. (Level 1 by absence, Take-Two, June 24, 2026)
Does the PS5 Pro add anything?
The PlayStation listing carries a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” badge, next to “Offline play enabled,” “1 player” and “Remote Play supported.” No Pro-specific figure has been published: no resolution, no frame rate, no graphics mode. (Level 1, PlayStation.com, August 28, 2026)
Performance
Does GTA 6 run at 60 frames per second?
Not at launch. Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, told creators hosted in Edinburgh in late August 2026 that consoles are targeting 30 frames per second, and Rockstar has published nothing on the subject. Who said what. (Level 3, Rob Nelson via VGC, August 28, 2026)
Will a performance mode arrive later?
Undecided. Nelson said he would have to check with the technical team before knowing whether a 60 frames per second option happens at all. Red Dead Redemption 2 never got one on console. (Level 3, Rob Nelson via VGC, August 28, 2026)
How good does it actually look?
Oliver Mackenzie of Digital Foundry calls it “the most impressive example of real-time game rendering,” with isolated single-frame drops. Richard Leadbetter judged the achievement “singular across the entire console generation.” The footage came from a standard PS5, and Rockstar has published no resolution figure. (Level 2, Digital Foundry via Push Square, August 28, 2026)
How much storage should I set aside?
Rockstar has published no install size. Since the box holds a download code and nothing else, every buyer downloads the whole game, retail customers included. (Level 1 by absence, Rockstar Games Support, June 24, 2026)

Price, editions and buying
How much does GTA 6 cost?
$79.99 for the Standard edition, $99.99 for the Ultimate. Those $79.99 sit $10 above the $69.99 tier the PS5 generation opened with. There is no Collector’s or Deluxe tier, and Rockstar support sums up the base version in one line: “The Grand Theft Auto VI: Standard Edition includes the game.” Our edition comparison works through the rest. (Level 1, Take-Two and Rockstar Games Support, June 24, 2026)
| Edition | US price | Sold boxed | Contents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $79.99 | Yes, a code with no disc, from November 12, 2026 | The game, nothing else |
| Ultimate | $99.99 | No | The game plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade |
What is inside the Ultimate?
Vehicles, weapons and apparel, from the ’95 Grotti Cheetah to the his-and-hers Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers, plus five Ultimate-only shops including Rideout Customs and Electric Fang Tattoo. None of it lands in one drop: Rockstar describes the content as “threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story.” (Level 1, Microsoft Store and Take-Two, June 24, 2026)
Can I upgrade to the Ultimate later?
Yes, at any point after redeeming your code, through the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store. The upgrade is listed at $20.00 on the US Microsoft Store, which is exactly the gap between the two editions. (Level 1, Rockstar Games Support and Microsoft Store)
Is there a disc in the box?
No: “A disc will not be included in the box.” The box reaches shelves on November 12, 2026 and exists in Standard only, since Rockstar states that “a physical version of the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition is not available.” (Level 1, Rockstar Games Support and Rockstar Store, June 24, 2026)
What does it cost outside the United States?
£69.99 for the Standard in the UK and £89.99 for the Ultimate, AU$129.95 and NZ$139.00 for the Standard. Rockstar publishes no conversion rule, so local storefronts are the only reference. (Level 2, The Independent, June 26, 2026, and Push Square, June 25, 2026)
Do I have to pre-order for the Vintage Vice City Pack?
No. Any purchase made before November 20, 2026 qualifies, pre-order or not. The pack is built around a 1955 Vapid Stanier and its garage, plus outfits, hairstyles and an exclusive weapon finish. (Level 1, Take-Two, June 24, 2026)
How many pre-orders have there been?
No figure has been published. On August 7, 2026 Strauss Zelnick went no further than an “exceptional start,” and the quarterly release of the same day adds nothing. The 89 percent Ultimate share going around rests on no Take-Two document. (Level 1, Take-Two, August 7, 2026)

The world, the story and the cast
Where is the game set?
In Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida, a version of Florida. Six locations have been named: Vice City, Grassrivers, Leonida Keys, Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga National Park and Port Gellhorn. (Level 1 for Leonida, Take-Two, June 24, 2026; level 2 for the locations, VGC, August 27, 2026)
How big is the map?
Twice GTA 5 and three times Red Dead Redemption 2, according to Rob Nelson. Vice City on its own is said to be twice Los Santos, or eleven times counting the suburbs, and no square mileage has ever been published. (Level 3, Rob Nelson via VGC, August 28, 2026)
Who do you play as?
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, both of them. Lucia is the first non-optional female protagonist in the series. (Level 2, Engadget, August 27, 2026)
What is the official pitch?
Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America.
That is the whole of it. Take-Two has released no further plot summary since June 24, 2026. (Level 1, Take-Two, June 24, 2026)
Which supporting characters are named?
Cal Hampton, Jason’s paranoid friend. Boobie Ike, who runs a small empire in Vice City. Dre’Quan Priest, of the Only Raw Records label. Raul Bautista, a veteran bank robber. Brian Heder, a trafficker and the owner of Jason’s place. (Level 2, VGC and Dexerto, August 27, 2026)
Who voices Jason and Lucia?
No cast has been made official. Rockstar has published no actor name, and the ones that have circulated for months rest on no verifiable source. (Level 1 by absence, official product page, August 28, 2026)
How long is the story?
About 80 hours, which is what Rob Nelson’s own end-to-end playthrough took in February 2026, covering the main story plus “some optional goals with narrative ramifications.” That phrasing is the New York Times’, not Rockstar’s, and the studio has published no official length. (Level 2, New York Times via GamesRadar+, August 27, 2026)
What languages does it support?
The Rockstar Store lists thirteen, among them English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, both written Chinese forms, two Spanish variants and Brazilian Portuguese. The page does not say which are dubbed and which are subtitles only. (Level 1, Rockstar Store, August 28, 2026)
What you can do in the game
Can you switch characters like in GTA 5?
Yes. Swapping between Jason and Lucia is instant when the two are together, and missions can be played as either one, or as both. (Level 2, VGC, August 27, 2026)
Is the six-star wanted level back?
Yes, six stars appear on screen during the Extended Look. A circle on the map marks the search zone rather than showing every officer, and changing masks or clothes brings the level down. (Level 2, Engadget and VGC, August 27, 2026)
Can you still steal any car?
No. Rob Nelson: “Previously, you could just press triangle to automatically hotwire and steal any vehicle.” Some models now need a key cloner, others carry a GPS that forces you to stay under a certain speed. Carjacking a driver directly still works. (Level 3, Rob Nelson to IGN, August 27, 2026)
Is there a karma system?
There is a Criminal Profile that shifts with how you play. Nelson: “It’s when you go beyond what is necessary on a consistent basis, or you do completely unnecessary stuff consistently, that you may start to sway your Criminal Profile in a certain direction.” (Level 3, Rob Nelson via Dexerto, August 27, 2026)
What is there to do outside missions?
Basketball, dirt bike and car races, base jumping, kayaking, airboats through the swamps, pool, mini golf, a zoo, a shooting range. The gym requires a membership. (Level 2, Dexerto, August 27, 2026)

Online, real money and ratings
Is there a multiplayer mode?
None has been announced. Take-Two calls the game “a single-player experience” and Sony repeats the phrase word for word, while no successor to GTA Online has received a date or a shape. (Level 1, Take-Two, June 24, 2026, and PlayStation.com)
Are there microtransactions?
Not in single player. Asked in Edinburgh by Kinda Funny Games, Rob Nelson said there is no real-money monetisation in the game shipping on November 19. (Level 3, Rob Nelson via Push Square, August 28, 2026)
Did Rockstar use generative AI?
No. Asked the question directly by the same interviewers, Rob Nelson answered “No.” (Level 3, Rob Nelson via Push Square, August 28, 2026)
What is the ESRB rating?
There isn’t one yet. A search of the ESRB public database on August 28, 2026 returns no entry for Grand Theft Auto VI, the US PlayStation Store serves the code ESRB_RP17, labelled “ESRB Rating Pending Mature 17+,” and Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 release already carried “not yet rated.” Two months on, nothing has moved. (Level 1, ESRB, PlayStation Store US and Take-Two)
Is cross-play planned between PS5 and Xbox?
Nothing has been announced, which follows from there being no online mode announced either. (Level 1 by absence, PlayStation.com, August 28, 2026)
The leaks and the Extended Look
How long is the Extended Look?
26 minutes and 48 seconds, timed on the official YouTube upload. The show aired on Netflix on August 27, 2026 at 3 p.m. ET and went up on YouTube six hours later. Durations published that day ranged from 26 minutes to more than 30. (Level 1, Rockstar Games on YouTube; timed in house)
Did the August leaks change anything?
Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has said the unauthorised videos affected the schedule or the content. The August 26, 2026 statement calls the leaks “heartbreaking for our team” and repeats the November 19 date. (Level 1, Rockstar Games, August 26, 2026)
A GTA 6 demo is going around. Is it real?
No. Fake sites reusing Rockstar’s visual identity promise a demo or early access and install an infostealer that Malwarebytes found capable of reading saved browser passwords, cookies and authenticated sessions. Rockstar has never released a playable demo of any kind. (Level 2, Malwarebytes via Engadget, August 2026)
