Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, says the team behind GTA 6 is nervous with 75 days to go. He told IGN that no amount of outside pressure compares with what the studio puts on itself.

Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, told IGN on August 27, 2026 that his team is nervous, and that the pressure it feels from outside does not compare with the pressure it puts on itself. He had said much the same thing to Dazed the day before, calling that pressure a privilege. GTA 6 arrives on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, 75 days from now.

Rob Nelson says the team building Grand Theft Auto VI is nervous, and that what it demands of itself weighs more than anything coming from outside. The co-head of Rockstar North told IGN on August 27, 2026, with 75 days left before GTA 6 arrives on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

As much pressure as we feel externally, I don’t think it can compare to the pressure we put on ourselves as a team. Everyone wants things to be perfect. We are nervous! Nervous, of course, but also excited to see how people respond to this video and then ultimately the game.

Nelson had reached for that sentence once already. On August 26, 2026, the day before the IGN interview ran, he told Dazed that no amount of external pressure could compare with the pressure the team puts on itself. To Dazed he added a line he did not repeat to IGN: that pressure, he said, is “ultimately a privilege we know we are fortunate to have,” and all the team wants is to deliver for its audience.

Grand Theft Auto V came out on September 17, 2013. Counting to November 19, 2026, that is 4,811 days, thirteen years and two months. Seventy-five of them are left.

The same answer to IGN carries on into the world itself.

It is definitely a step forward in all respects for us, the size of the world and how deep it feels. It’s a bit of a shock when you get in there and you see the density of the traffic, the density of population, and the fidelity of their responses to you.

Nobody outside Rockstar has felt that shock with a controller in hand. The July 2026 sessions in Edinburgh were hands-off for the guests, IGN and the New York Times included: Nelson played, the press watched. Everyone else has seen that density in exactly one place, the 26 minutes and 48 seconds of the Extended Look broadcast on August 27, 2026.
