GTA 6 PS5 bundle: the GTA V precedent and Sony's five bundles

Sony showed two DualSense controllers in GTA 6 colors on the PlayStation Blog on September 3, 2026, at $84.99. That blog is where Sony announced all five of its console bundles, 62 days before the game's release.

: PlayStation's own product page for the game joins the sources, with the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, alongside a fresh reading of the PlayStation Blog.

No. Neither Sony nor Rockstar Games has announced a PS5 bundle with GTA 6 as of September 18, 2026, and PlayStation's own product page for the game sells it alone, from $79.99. The only PlayStation hardware in the game's colors is a pair of DualSense controllers shown on September 3, 2026 at $84.99. Sony has published five console bundles since 2014, the most recent for Marvel's Wolverine at $649.99, and one of them reached shelves 9 days after its announcement.

No bundle pairing a PS5 console with Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced by Sony Interactive Entertainment or by Rockstar Games, 62 days before the release of November 19, 2026. The only PlayStation hardware in the game’s colors is a pair of DualSense controllers shown on the PlayStation Blog on September 3, 2026, at $84.99. That post mentions no console, no headset and no faceplate.

The blog’s front page, read again on September 18, 2026, carries nothing further: its newest posts are “Co-op roguelite Shape of Dreams launches today on PS5” and a hands-on report on Final Fantasy VII Revelation, both dated September 17, 2026. That blog is where Sony announced all five of its console bundles, and at Rockstar Games the Newswire plays the same part. GamesIndustry.biz had already written on June 24, 2026 that a launch of this size without a console bundle was unusual.

The PlayStation page for Grand Theft Auto VI, read on September 18, 2026, offers the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, each with a pre-order button and a free month of GTA+, for a release on PS5 and PS5 Pro on November 19, 2026. Those two buttons are all Sony sells on that page.

The five PS5 bundles Sony has published since 2014

What goes in the box barely changes from the 2014 PS4 to the 2026 PS5 Digital Edition: a console, a matching controller, and the game as a code or a digital copy.

Post Bundle What was in it Price announced On sale
November 14, 2014 PS4 500GB, Grand Theft Auto V the game and a The Last of Us Remastered download voucher $399.99 in the US Black Friday 2014
July 20, 2023 PS5, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 limited edition console and controller, digital copy absent from the post, $599.99 per VGC September 1, 2023
September 20, 2023 PS5, EA Sports FC 24 console, controller, full game voucher absent from the post September 29, 2023
July 10, 2025 PS5, Ghost of Yōtei console with disc drive, matching controller, digital copy $599.99 October 2, 2025
August 11, 2026 PS5 Digital Edition, Marvel’s Wolverine console, matching controller, game code $649.99 September 15, 2026

Sony has built exactly one bundle around a GTA, and it did not arrive at launch. John Koller, then vice president of PlayStation brand marketing, announced it on November 14, 2014: a 500GB PS4, a copy of Grand Theft Auto V and a download voucher for The Last of Us Remastered, at $399.99. The PS4 version of the game had shipped on November 18, 2014, and the bundle turned up on Black Friday, ten days later, in the United States and Canada only, in limited quantities.

Sony’s own calendar leaves room

Between the announcement post and the shelf date, Sony took 9 days for EA Sports FC 24, 14 for the GTA V bundle, 35 for Marvel’s Wolverine, 43 for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and 84 for Ghost of Yōtei. Nine days is the floor on that record, so an announcement made as late as November 10, 2026 would still leave the same margin before November 19.

Three of those five bundles landed on the game’s own release day: EA Sports FC 24 on September 29, 2023, Ghost of Yōtei on October 2, 2025, Marvel’s Wolverine on September 15, 2026. The Spider-Man 2 bundle ran 49 days ahead of its game, on sale September 1, 2023 for an October 20 release.

The missing disc does not stand in the way. The boxed copy of GTA 6 holds a download code and nothing else, as the Rockstar Store product page states, and that code binds the copy to the account that redeems it. Sony already ships codes: the Marvel’s Wolverine bundle contains “a game code for Marvel’s Wolverine”, the Ghost of Yōtei one “a digital copy”.

The September 15, 2026 bundle gives the only recent price gap to work from. At $649.99 it sits $50 above a PS5 Digital Edition bought on its own, which has cost $599.99 since April 2, 2026. The PS5 Pro stays at $899.99 on the same schedule. Microsoft has announced no Xbox Series X or S bundle with the game either, and the pre-orders open since June 24, 2026 cover the game alone.

Where these bundles sell, and how much notice you get

Sony announces a bundle first and opens pre-orders after, and those two dates have sat as close as 5 days and as far as 56.

Bundle Announced Pre-orders open Notice
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 July 20, 2023 July 28, 2023 8 days
EA Sports FC 24 September 20, 2023 September 25, 2023 5 days
Ghost of Yōtei July 10, 2025 September 4, 2025 56 days
Marvel’s Wolverine August 11, 2026 August 19, 2026 8 days

The short end, 5 days, was EA Sports FC 24 in September 2023. Ghost of Yōtei and Marvel’s Wolverine both opened at 10 a.m. local time, which the August 11, 2026 post translates for the United States as 7 a.m. Pacific and 10 a.m. Eastern. That same post sells the Wolverine console “in limited quantities”. The 2014 GTA V bundle had no pre-order phase at all: John Koller’s post sent buyers to retail shelves on Black Friday, “while supplies last”.

Sony’s own store serves the same eleven countries each time: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Austria. That list carried the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 bundle in 2023, the black Ghost of Yōtei edition in 2025 and the Marvel’s Wolverine bundle in 2026, each alongside selected retailers. The gold Ghost of Yōtei went wider, to retailers worldwide, and EA Sports FC 24 wider still, across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
