GTA 6 NPCs can walk up and try to disarm Jason and Lucia

An Italian creator hosted at Rockstar North describes GTA 6 pedestrians reaching for a drawn weapon. Insider Gaming published the account on September 8, 2026, from a session where nobody held a controller.

GTA6 LIFE

An NPC who sees Jason or Lucia holding a weapon in the open can walk over and try to take it, while others back away in fear. Italian creator MikeShowSha says so after his July 2026 visit to Rockstar North and his conversation with Rob Nelson, in an account Insider Gaming relayed on September 8, 2026. Rockstar Games has published nothing about these reactions, and the creator never played.

A pedestrian who spots Jason or Lucia holding a weapon in the open can close the distance and try to grab it. Insider Gaming relayed that behaviour on September 8, 2026, from Italian creator MikeShowSha’s visit to Rockstar North and his conversation with co-director Rob Nelson. Others do the opposite and back off, or read as plainly frightened, depending on how visible the weapon is.

How this account travelled is worth stating. MikeShowSha told it in Italian, a Reddit user posting as El_Pintor64 translated it on r/GTA6, YouTuber TGG covered it in a video, and Insider Gaming wrote the summary. The creator never played. MP1st reported the hands-off format on August 19, 2026, Pure Xbox repeated it on August 27 while rounding up the first previews, and Numerama said the same on September 1; Insider Gaming shows it without quite saying so, describing Mike watching Rob Nelson shoot at police cars.

Police officers do not all move alike. MikeShowSha describes a heavier cop chasing Jason on foot, losing him easily, and turning up afterwards “bent over, exhausted, and out of breath.” He adds that the police pile-ups shown in the Extended Look of August 27, 2026 are not scripted: each car answers gunfire in its own way, and Rob Nelson recreated a crash close to the one in the video while he watched.

Two robbery moments break from the expected script. Inside a corner store, a threatened cashier gives up the existence of a safe in the back room, and the call is the player’s: go for the bigger take, or leave with what is already in hand. Outside, a random crime event puts two masked women in trouble mid-robbery at a jewellery store and has them ask Jason and Lucia for help; you can bail them out, then steal the jewels yourself. Rockstar told MikeShowSha it had not run into that scene in months of internal testing.

One detail lines up with something already reported. After a street fight, an NPC drops a hat and glasses, and Jason can pick both up and wear them, which changes the description the police hold on to; ComicBook described the same mechanic on August 28, 2026, for glasses alone. The account closes on clothing that shifts block by block: gym wear near gyms, ordinary clothes around Jason’s neighborhood.

Rockstar Games has published none of this. What the studio has said about its own crowds comes down to two things: the 600,000 animations given to the New York Times on August 27, 2026, and the example handed to Dazed on August 26, where walking down the street with a visible rifle makes the city react. Rob Nelson added to Insider Gaming on August 27 that NPCs no longer scatter on sight and can stand their ground. With 72 days left before November 19, 2026, everything else runs through guests who watched a developer play.
