GTA 6 leaker CyberLeek: the demands, the token, the subpoenas

On August 18, 2026, a site called Cyberleek began posting GTA 6 gameplay videos. The account then tied its leaks to a crypto token, and Take-Two went to a New York federal court to unmask it.

CyberLeek is the alias behind the GTA 6 gameplay videos posted from August 18, 2026, first on a site of the same name and then on Telegram. The account demanded disc-based physical editions while promoting a $CYBERLEEK token on Solana, which was drained on August 27, 2026. Take-Two filed DMCA subpoenas in New York federal court to learn its identity.

CyberLeek is the alias behind the Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay videos that began circulating on August 18, 2026, first on a site called Cyberleek and then across X and other platforms despite takedowns filed by Take-Two, according to Kotaku. The account went on to speak mostly through Telegram. Whether it is one person or a group is still unknown: PC Gamer said as much on August 20, 2026, and nothing had changed by August 28.

On August 20, 2026, CyberLeek warned about its own copycats: “Some impersonators using the username CyberLeek have appeared across various social media platforms, including X, Discord, and here on Telegram,” Eurogamer reported. Numerama found the same day that fake X accounts using the name had gained more than 100,000 followers in 24 hours.

Three demands and a token

PC Gamer lists three demands: an end to digital-only pre-orders, no single-player content locked behind a separate payment, and a guaranteed offline mode once servers shut down. Forbes puts the core grievance on GTA 6’s physical editions shipping as a download code with no disc. The manifesto reads: “Publishers sell licenses and call them purchases.” The Stop Killing Games campaign distanced itself from the operation entirely, Numerama reported.

The videos also carried promotion for a token, $CYBERLEEK, created on the Solana blockchain, with polls letting holders vote on the next clip. Numerama counted $11.8 million in trading on August 18, 2026 alone. Around 3:27 a.m. New York time on August 27, the wallet that had created the token twelve days earlier pulled the accumulated fees and spread them across several wallets, PC Gamer reported. Rockstar’s Extended Look aired on Netflix that same day. Kotaku put the token’s fall at 86% from its peak. PC Gamer, Kotaku and Dexerto each report a different amount withdrawn, and none of the three figures has been verified.

In between, on August 26, 2026, the account posted roughly four and a half minutes of Lucia Caminos’s prologue on Telegram, according to Mashable, hours after Rockstar’s letter called the leaks “heartbreaking for our team” without naming CyberLeek.

Take-Two’s subpoenas in New York

Take-Two filed DMCA subpoena requests in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The filings seek “to obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers,” TorrentFreak quoted. The first two were filed on August 21, 2026 according to The Verge, August 20 according to French Wikipedia.

Target What Take-Two asks for
Microsoft device IDs, IP logs, GTA-related OneDrive content
Discord identifying data on members of three servers since June 1
X Corp. data on three accounts, already suspended and flagged as impostors
YouTube one video and three channels, CyberLeeks, Surfer24k and Cyberleek_ar_io

The Verge put the response deadline for Microsoft and Discord at September 4, 2026. On August 25, 2026, Discord told VGC it had not been served. As of August 28, 2026, no arrest or public identification had been announced, and no source links CyberLeek to Arion Kurtaj, the hacker behind the 2022 leak.

On October 11, 2026, Gamergen described a new file of nearly 25 minutes, about 367 MB, titled “GTA 6 Cyberleek An Extended Look,” likely taken from a development build and once again used to promote a cryptocurrency. As of August 27, 2026, CyberLeek had released only videos and images, never the game itself, according to Engadget. The fake demo that surfaced that day on sites imitating Rockstar Games installed a password stealer.
