Tom Henderson runs Insider Gaming and has been talking about GTA 6 since June 2021, on X and on his own site. Six of his claims, from in-game crypto to the Netflix deal, line up against what Rockstar published next.
Tom Henderson is the CEO and editor-in-chief of Insider Gaming. In June 2021 he said GTA 6 would be set in Vice City and would not arrive before 2025, and both held: Take-Two announced the game for 2025 on December 4, 2023, and it now launches November 19, 2026. He walked back his 2021 crypto claim in February 2026, and his August 6, 2026 Netflix estimate carried no dollar figure.
Tom Henderson is the CEO and editor-in-chief of Insider Gaming, per the site’s staff page. Like Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, he reports on Grand Theft Auto VI ahead of Rockstar’s own announcements. What he says commits him and his site, not Rockstar Games. Since June 2021, six of his claims can be dated and checked against what Rockstar or Take-Two published afterwards. The game launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
| Date | What he claimed | What Rockstar or Take-Two published next |
|---|---|---|
| June 3, 2021 | Missions paying out in crypto, the stock market back with a broker | Nothing of the kind as of September 4, 2026; Henderson called it scrapped in February 2026 |
| June 2021 | A modern-day Vice City | The product page sets the game in Leonida, with Vice City as its metropolis |
| June 2021 | No release before 2025 | Announced for 2025 on December 4, 2023, now set for November 19, 2026 |
| June 2021 | A map that changes over time, like Fortnite’s | Nothing of the kind in the official videos |
| May 21, 2026 | No marketing push before mid to late August | Extended Look announced August 6, aired on Netflix August 27, 2026 |
| August 6, 2026 | Netflix money worth about one million copies | Strauss Zelnick declined to say whether money changed hands |
The 2021 crypto claim
On June 3, 2021, he posted on X: “I heard recently that in GTA 6, some missions will reward you in bitcoin instead of cash for completing some missions.” In the same thread he added that “the stock market feature will return, with the addition of a broker for different cryptocurrencies,” and that the currency would not be called Bitcoin.
Asked about it on X in February 2026, he answered: “I believe this was scrapped years ago.” The GTA 6 stock market page tracks what is left of that rumour.
June 2021: Vice City and 2025
On June 30, 2021, Pure Xbox summed up a Henderson video: no game until 2025 at the earliest, Vice City brought into the present day, and a world that shifts season by season. He told viewers to take it all “with a pinch of salt.”
Two of those calls held. Take-Two announced the game for 2025 on December 4, 2023, then came two delays: to May 26, 2026, and then to November 19, 2026. The Fortnite-style map appears neither in the Extended Look nor on the product page.
2026: marketing and Netflix
On May 21, 2026, writing on Insider Gaming and flagging it as opinion, he said: “I really don’t think Take-Two needs to do anything until mid-late August.” Rockstar announced the Extended Look on August 6, and Netflix aired it on August 27, 2026.
The day of the announcement, he wrote on X: “GTA 6 revenue has probably already exceeded the equivalent to one million units sold because of the Netflix deal.” No dollar amount. Khel Now multiplied that by $80 on August 8 and ran “close to $100 million”, a figure the Netflix premiere page puts back in context.
