GTA 6 car customization: the two shops Rockstar named
Rockstar Games has named exactly two vehicle mod shops in GTA 6, and both of them are paid content. Here is what the official pages say about customization as of September 6, 2026, and what they leave out.
GTA6 LIFE
Two mod shops carry an official name in GTA 6: Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's, both included in the Ultimate Edition sold at $99.99. No mod shop in the standard game is named anywhere on Rockstar Games' pages as of September 6, 2026, and no option list, no price and no menu screenshot has been published.

Two vehicle mod shops carry an official name in Grand Theft Auto VI, and both of them come with the Ultimate Edition at $99.99: Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie’s. Rockstar Games’ three official surfaces, the product page, the editions page and the support article updated on June 24, 2026, name no others. Checked on September 6, 2026, 74 days out from the November 19 release.
The Microsoft Store listing for the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, written by the publisher, says what each one does. Rideout Customs builds donks, the American cars raised on oversized wheels. One-Eyed Willie’s handles off-road work, at Lake Leonida. Neither is a business Jason and Lucia own: they are addresses where a car gets modified. The content does not land in one piece either, since Rockstar writes that Ultimate bonuses are “threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter.”
| Content | What Rockstar says it is | Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Rideout Customs Mod Shop | donk customization shop | Ultimate |
| One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop | off-road shop at Lake Leonida | Ultimate |
| Ganado Retro Build | exclusive mods for Jason’s Vapid Ganado pickup | Ultimate |
| Classic Car Collection | track down and restore cars for collector Wyman | Ultimate |
Where the idea of deeper customization comes from
Not from Rockstar. ComicBook, which attended the hands-off presentation, wrote on August 27, 2026: “You won’t be buying houses because Jason and Lucia are on the run (hence the deeper car customization that gives players stuff to spend their money on).”
The shortcut comes from invited press, not from the studio: no level 1 source ties customization to what money is for, and nobody at Rockstar has framed the shops as the replacement for buying property. No screenshot of a mod shop menu has gone out, and no option list either.

Keeping the car comes before modifying it
A stolen car only becomes a personal vehicle once it is registered, and registration costs money, according to RockstarINTEL on August 27, 2026 and ActuGaming the next day. Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, described to IGN on August 27 the phone app that settles the question before the theft itself:
“It also tells me how much it’s worth if I go to take it to a Pay n’ Spray or a specialty car fence, and how much it would cost for me to register it for myself.”
Three branches open at the moment of the steal: sell it to a specialist fence, repaint it, keep it. Jason and Lucia each hold several personal vehicles, capped by garage space, and a registered car that police recover after a crime goes to the impound.
On the garage itself, the only official wording dates from June 24, 2026 and is no longer displayed: reproduced by GamesRadar+, it describes a “Stash Box” in any “Personal Garage or Safehouse” and a weapon locker in every personal garage. Kotaku reproduced the Paradise Garage line the same day, “which features a weapon locker plus a secure place to deposit stolen goods to be fenced.” Both named garages are paid content, one inside the Ultimate Edition, the other a pre-order bonus.

The two cars the Ultimate Edition modifies for you
The Ganado Retro Build adds exclusive mods to Jason’s lowered pickup: “inject muscle and classic stylings into Jason’s well-worn Vapid Ganado low-riding pickup with exclusive mods.” The Classic Car Collection is an activity instead of an object, tracking down abandoned project cars and reviving them for Wyman, the “eccentric collector and local fixer” of the Microsoft Store listing. It is the only place where Rockstar ties mechanical work to a mission.
What Rockstar still has not published
No price, no parts list, no scale of any kind. The studio has not said how many mod shops the standard game holds, where they are, or whether an extra garage is bought, unlocked or lent. It has not said whether a modified car keeps its work after an impound either. Details like these usually arrive with the first hours of play, not before: the only pages describing a GTA 6 mod shop today are store listings selling a $99.99 edition.
