GTA 6 boats: only two named, and everything else on the water

Rockstar Games has published no boat list for GTA 6, and only two watercraft carry an official name. Everything else on the water, from jet skis to scuba diving, has been counted off the footage.

Rockstar Games has named two GTA 6 watercraft and no more, both inside the Ultimate Edition content detailed on June 24, 2026: the Shitzu Squalo, described as open-ocean-ready, and the Crest Kayak. The rest comes from footage. Scuba diving, jet skis, airboats, kayaking and swimming are six of the twenty free-roam activity categories counted in the August 27, 2026 Extended Look, and diving carries a treasure-hunting mechanic.

Two watercraft in Grand Theft Auto VI carry a name from Rockstar Games, and both of them sit inside the Ultimate Edition content detailed on June 24, 2026: the Shitzu Squalo speedboat and the Crest Kayak. With 67 days to go before the November 19, 2026 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, everything else that floats has been counted off screenshots and footage.

The Ultimate Edition Upgrade listing on the Microsoft Store, written by the publisher, gives the Squalo a single sentence: “This pink and blue Squalo watercraft is open-ocean-ready with an explosives-laden weapons crate.” The same bundle moors it at Washington Beach and points it at Gambit Bay for fishing. The Crest Kayak sits under Jason’s safehouse next to a Dinka Enduro dirt bike, in a line that reads “Switch gears and soak up the sun in an Army fatigue-tinged Dinka Enduro motorcycle or Crest Kayak.”

The other five entries below come from IGN or from an official press screenshot, not from a Rockstar text.

What Rockstar actually writes about the water

Three of the six region texts on the Only in Leonida page, live since May 6, 2025, talk about water, and none of them describes a mechanic. The Leonida Keys entry ends on “some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America”. Grassrivers warns that “you never know what lies beneath the surface of this primordial expanse”, then names the gators and promises “far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves”. Vice City’s own text closes on the VC Port, “the cruise ship capital of the world”, the only piece of port infrastructure Rockstar names anywhere.

Those lines are 16 months old and have not changed since. Where any of this water sits relative to the rest is still unknown, because no Leonida map has been published, a gap covered in our region by region guide.

Swimming, diving and finding things

Six of the twenty free-roam activity categories GTA BOOM counted in the August 27, 2026 Extended Look happen on or under the water: scuba diving, jet ski, airboat, kayak, swimming and fishing. SVG places the swamps around the 17 minute 10 second mark of the 26 minute 48 second video, with Jason at the wheel of a small boat, and describes a separate shot of him free-diving in deep water.

ComicBook reported on August 28, 2026 that diving carries a treasure-hunting mechanic, without saying what is found or how a spot gets marked. Of the six water activities, it is the only one any press account attaches a reward to.

Kayaking does a different job. Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, listed it to IGN on August 27, 2026 among the outings that raise the relationship meter between Jason and Lucia: “playing pool or mini golf or kayaking; normal slice of life things”. Fishing follows its own rule, set out in our fishing guide: catch and release, with no fish kept.

Then there is what Rockstar has not published. No submarine or submersible appears in the official texts or in the August 27 and 28, 2026 press write-ups. No oxygen meter, no breath-hold timer and no purchasable dive gear have been described, which makes the tank against the rail above an image detail rather than a documented system. No spear gun either, no boat ramp, and not a word about buying a boat, while the rest of the vehicle roster runs through a garage with a capped slot count. As for the shark filmed from above in the first trailer on December 4, 2023, alongside four dolphins, nothing says it comes near the player.
